Weddings and Renewals of Vows

Weddings and Renewals of Vows

Did you know that by hiring an Independent Celebrant you could hold your Wedding Ceremony wherever you like?  But hang on … doesn’t the venue have to be licenced?  No!  Not when you use a Celebrant.

Head over to my FAQ page for more information on the differences between a Registrar and a Celebrant-led Ceremony.

As an Independent Celebrant I believe that your Wedding Day should start with a truly personal Wedding Ceremony.   Why shouldn’t your Ceremony be as beautiful and as personal as all those special touches you have planned for your Wedding Reception and the rest of your big day?

There are many ways in which you can enhance your wedding ceremony, why not take a look at some ideas my couples have used for Personalising your Wedding Ceremony here.

I specialise in producing individually written, bespoke and personal Wedding Ceremonies which are written just for you – a complete one-off that won’t be repeated.  This is a refreshing alternative to the standard wedding script that is delivered day in and day out by local authority Registrars, and without the restrictions that they place upon you.

Perhaps one of you is religious, and the other isn’t – but you’d like to acknowledge this – or maybe you fancy incorporating some of the old traditions like jumping the broom, hand fasting, or other rituals into your Wedding Ceremony.  These are just examples – you may choose any content you like for your wedding. It will be different from anything you’ve been expecting, it will be personal to you and it certainly won’t be rushed!

True Blue Weddings can take place daytime, evening or at night, and vary from small intimate gatherings in a private garden or restaurant, to large celebrations involving 150 guests or more, in a grand hotel or marquee.  Or how about going back to nature and hosting your nuptials in a woodland setting or meadow?  Anything’s possible.

Music and readings will have a big part to play in your Wedding Ceremony and I encourage you to think about these carefully, choosing the pieces that mean the most to you – and that will work within the Ceremony.

I also conduct Renewals of Vows, either following recent weddings that have taken place abroad or to celebrate a significant and special Anniversary.  Again, these are written from scratch with the couple and we have a lot of fun incorporating a story into the ceremony script, including a little humour if at all possible.  It’s great if children and grandchildren can be involved as attendants, or doing readings – and of course makes my job so much easier!

A Renewal of Vows Ceremony follows a similar format to a traditional Wedding – you may make an entrance together, or one partner may wait for the other … it’s all about choice and feeling comfortable.  The heart of the Ceremony is where each couple re-affirms their wedding vows to one another, and this can be symbolised with new wedding rings (or rings that have been adapted or added to in some way) , the lighting of a unity candle, or in any other way you wish.

We discuss your ideas at our first meeting, I produce a draft and the script takes shape over the months and weeks prior to your ceremony!
